Missouri DOC Release Path
The Missouri Department of Corrections operates state prisons and the community-supervision system that receives sentenced people from Camden County. No state adult institution was verified inside Camden County. The relevant facility entry is therefore a statewide system, not a local prison building. When Camden County transfers a sentenced person to MODOC, the sheriff's release event and the state intake record answer different questions. The first proves departure from the county jail. The second establishes state custody, location, or supervision.
A later parole or discharge belongs to MODOC and normally does not return to Camden County's 48-hour feed. Parole is conditional community release before the sentence fully ends. Conditional release is also supervised and is not final discharge. Probation may arise from a court order without a state-prison stay. A fully discharged person has completed MODOC custody and supervision, but the active public search specifically excludes discharged offenders.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Institution | Physical state correctional custody |
| Parole or conditional release | Community placement under MODOC supervision |
| Probation | Court-ordered community supervision |
| Discharge | MODOC custody and supervision have ended |
Search Missouri DOC Offenders
Use the MODOC Web Offender Search only after establishing a Missouri state-corrections connection. A county-only Camden booking may never appear. Search by DOC number when available because it is more precise than a name. Otherwise enter the public name fields and compare multiple identity attributes. Read the result's status, location, supervision, sentence, offense, and date labels as displayed.
- Gather the DOC number, full legal name, name variants, and lawful identity details.
- Search the official MODOC interface and note its “data as of” time.
- Open the matching result and distinguish an institution from a probation or parole district.
- Copy each date label verbatim. Do not rename a conditional or projected date as an actual release.
- If the person is absent after full discharge, move to MODOC Sunshine data, a direct records request, and the court judgment.
The official search is for active offenders. It can include people on probation, parole, or conditional release, even though they are not inside a prison. It does not provide information on discharged offenders. No result may mean full discharge, a mismatch, restricted data, or no MODOC connection at all. It does not prove a Camden County jail release.
The official active-offender interface is shown in the captured research image.

The displayed warning about discharged people defines the search boundary and directs older state-release research toward records rather than guesswork.
Missouri DOC Release Dates
MODOC records use several dates that cannot be collapsed into one. A sentence minimum release date and sentence maximum release date are Sunshine-data fields tied to sentence rows. A projected time-credit release date is a calculation used for administrative parole consideration under 14 CSR 10-5.010. A parole or conditional-release date may start supervised community placement. An actual institutional release date records the event. Final discharge comes later when all applicable custody and supervision end.
A projected date is not an appointment at a prison gate. Parole Board decisions, detainers, new cases, sentence recalculation, consecutive terms, jail credit, conduct, program participation, or revocation can change the path. If a public result has no projected date, state only that no public projected date was displayed. Adding sentence length to a court date is unreliable because credit and sentence structure matter.
Missouri law is not a blanket rule that every prisoner serves 85 percent. Section 558.019 has different minimum structures for covered circumstances, including 40, 50, and 80 percent based on prior commitments and an 85 percent provision for a dangerous felony with its statutory alternative. Section 558.011 governs conditional-release terms for many sentences, and section 217.690 supplies Parole Board authority and restrictions. Apply no percentage without the conviction, sentence, offense, and governing law.
Request Missouri DOC Release Records
MODOC's Sunshine Law page is the records route when the public search omits a fully discharged person or does not answer a disputed date. Identify the person, DOC number, date range, and exact fields sought. Useful fields include institutional release date and mechanism, parole or conditional-release date, maximum or final discharge date, assigned field office, public Board decision, sentence-calculation fields, and latest releasable identification photograph.
The department's nightly Sunshine dataset can provide historical clues because it concerns people who are or have been under supervision and includes older records. Its Completed Flag is marked “Y” when a sentence is completed. Multiple charge and sentence rows may appear, and MODOC warns that data can be incomplete or self-reported. Reconcile the dataset with the judgment and a direct department response when accuracy matters.

Section 217.075 generally treats offender records as public subject to exclusions for medical material, records closed by other law, and security procedures. Ask the department to identify the basis for any withheld part. Under Missouri Sunshine timing rules, a custodian must act as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day, or explain the delay and earliest production time. “Act” does not mean every large search must be complete then.
Missouri Release and Supervision
When a MODOC result points to a probation and parole district, it usually indicates community supervision rather than confinement. District 20 in Camdenton is the local field office for Camden County and neighboring counties. It is not a Community Supervision Center, Community Release Center, jail, or prison. The office can help confirm public supervision and assigned-office information for a person actually connected to MODOC.
A county bond release does not become a District 20 case merely because the person lives in Camden County. First establish state supervision in the offender result or court order. Likewise, a person can be genuinely released from a state institution and later return to custody after a violation or new case. The later event does not erase the earlier release.
- Parole
- Conditional community release from a prison sentence under Board authority.
- Conditional release
- A statutory supervised portion of an eligible sentence, not full discharge.
- Final discharge
- The end of applicable MODOC custody and supervision.
- Revocation
- An official action that can return a supervised person to custody.
For county booking evidence, return to the Camden County released-inmate search. For state release, keep the DOC result, relevant Board record, supervision confirmation, and court judgment together.
Missouri Release and Federal Holds
A state release can lead to another custodian. A detainer is a request or legal basis for an agency to hold or transfer a person for another authority. If MODOC records show a federal or immigration handoff, the state release proves only the end of the state placement. BOP covers people in the federal prison system, not every person held for a federal court. USMS handles many pretrial movements and has no general public locator.
ICE uses a separate civil-immigration locator. Its online system can include current detainees and people released from ICE custody in a recent 60-day period. Thus, a MODOC release and an ICE custody result can both be true. Ask MODOC for the release mechanism or destination and then verify with the receiving authority.
Note: Keep state, county, and federal records in chronological order because each agency reports only the custody event it controls.
Missouri Parole Release Decisions
The Missouri Parole Board can deny release, defer a decision, set a presumptive future date, or approve release subject to conditions and a workable plan. The official process says a decision generally follows about eight to twelve weeks after a hearing, but a presumptive date remains conditional. Conduct, programming, a detainer, a release plan, or new information can cause later change or rescission.
No official public statewide person-by-person hearing calendar or searchable decisions database was found. Public portions of a decision can be requested from the Board or checked through institutional parole staff. Do not turn guideline ranges into a promised release date.
